FEATURED EVENTS FROM PAST YEARS
Visit us for a weekend of Halloween fun to experience the Mountain House coming alive with table top mysteries, Halloween crafts, live music, trick-or-treating, and more! From evening campfires to classic horror movie marathons, there are plenty of activities to enjoy for all ages.

The Night Watchman’s Haunted Tour
Presented by the Murder Mystery Café, join us for an enchanting encounter with spirits from Mohonk’s past through historic and local lore. The tour will begin in Mohonk’s opulent parlor, where you will be met by your guide, the mysterious Night Watchman. Visiting spirits will include former Mohonk guest Teddy Roosevelt, and other historical Mohonk personages, either former employees from olden times or inspired by such—Emma Smuller Carter, the mysterious Michael and Mary Boland, and Chef Lorraine.
Please note: Our tours are 25 minutes each and will venture outside. Tour groups are limited to 30 people and masks are required.
Halloween Movie Marathon
Cozy up for a Halloween movie marathon. But be warned: the movies get scarier as the night goes on. Popcorn is complimentary.

Campfire and S’mores with Live Music from Vickie Russell
Join Vickie Russell for a night of fun songs around the campfire. It’s great family fun with “s’more” of our favorite gooey treats!
Table Top Mystery
Teams of up to 4 people will enjoy a 20 minute challenge of whodunit to see if they can solve the Mohonk mystery. Up to 30 people per time block, recommended for ages 7 and up.

Halloween Two-Mile Run/Walk
Stretch your legs on this spirited event where you can set the time but we set the distance. Register on the day of the for the race at the Tennis Shop to receive your race number and suggested route. The race ends and begins at the Tennis Shop. Racers are encouraged to participate in costume, so be sure to choose a costume that won’t slow you down!
Halloween Banner Craft Kits
Come by the Front Desk office to pick up your own Halloween Banner that you can color to hang up on your door here or at home. Recommended for ages 4 and up.
Live Music with Soulia and the Sultans*
Soulia and the Sultans spring from a tradition of female-fronted jazz bands where the chanteuse recounts the tales of The Great American Songbook. From the starry eyed “No Moon at All” a la Julie London, to Julia Lee’s bluesy “King Size Papa,” or Jobim’s hypnotic “Corcovado,” listeners are transported on an evocative musical journey by this captivating band.
Trick-or-Treating!
Be sure to bring your favorite costume to go trick-or-treating around the Mountain House. A map/list of all the locations you can visit to collect your tricks and treats will be provided.
Tomahawk Throwing
Please join our Activities staff for this fun and engaging skill.
There will be a required 10-minute safety orientation before the event and a limit of 30 participants. Sign up is required, no earlier than 24 hours in advance: please call 845-256-2186 to sign up. No late admittance. For ages 13 and up only. Closed-toe shoes are required.
Afternoon Tea and Cookies
Sip tea or cider and munch on festive cookies.
Halloween Movie Night: The Nightmare Before Christmas
Cozy up for this Halloween movie classic featuring complimentary popcorn!
Casey Carle’s Bubblemania!
The beauty, fun and wonder of bubbles, are brought to us from the man who has “burst” onto stages all over the world. Casey returns to Mohonk with his amazing one-man show!

Halloween Glow-in-the-Dark Necklace Craft Kit
Come by the Front Desk office to pick up your own glow-in-the-dark beaded necklace that you can make to scare your mummy. Featuring pumpkins, witches and bats! Recommended for ages 4 and up.
Live Animals and Superstitions with Jan Berlin
Black cats, horseshoes, rabbit’s feet, and eye of toad—discover the origins of some of the most common and sometimes humorous beliefs regarding animal “magic.” Join Mohonk favorite Jan Berlin and spend some time with a few live animal ambassadors associated with superstitions and Halloween. You might be surprised at how truly delightful they really are!
